General:
Accessible from the coast, in the shadow of the homonymous triangular Venetian fortress built on a high rock, is the beach of Palaiokastro. The dive starts from the beach. Up to a depth of 6 meters, we find rocky outcrops with sargos, gobies, guttans, bibs and salps moving around and grazing on macrophytes. Then clumps of Posidonia appear scattered, growing on mixed-bottom, rocky formations with openings that have sand accretions. The dive is from land, with an average depth of 11 meters, and is ideal for underwater photography and observation of underwater life.

Accessible from the coast, in the shadow of the homonymous triangular Venetian fortress built on a high rock, is the beach of Palaiokastro.
The dive starts from the beach. Up to a depth of 6 meters, we find rocky outcrops with many species of fish moving around and grazing on macrophytes.
Then, clumps of Posidonia appear scattered among rock formations with openings that have sand accretions. The meadows continue to a depth of 19 meters. The diver has the opportunity to swim above the meadows, between the openings, to observe the structure of these underwater forests, since it is an underwater plant with flowers and fruits, and to explore the underwater life that grows in the roots and leaves.
Many species of fish swim in schools above the meadows. The guardians of the prairie are unmistakable perch who, when approached, lurk to see the intruder until they feel threatened. Once they sense it, they disappear into the sanctuary of the meadow.
On the way back, we explore the shallow reefs and vertical cliffs which, depending on the season, are covered in colourful carpets of macroalgae, sponges and bryozoans. Visibility is very good.
