Description

General:

Kalamies Reef is a shallow reef between Skalia village and Emborios village, close to Kalamies beach where from it was named. It is at the center of the “Diving park” at about 3,2 n.miles from Melitchacha port.

The reef is visible from the surface. The shallowest depth is at about 2m and descends down to 15 meters. It is very nice for an easy dive.

Details:

We anchor the boat onto the "Kalamies reef" at its North end. The depth there is 2 meters while outside the reef the depth reaches the 15 meters. The dive site is suitable for Scuba Diver minimum diving level.

We start diving towards South, remaining on the reef. We move around the rocks and the small canyons they form at a depth of 12 meters. We emerge at 5 meters to return to the starting point.

Throughout the journey we meet colourful sponges, sea anemones, nudibranch, starfish, shells, octopus and fish. We meet meadows of Posidonia on the sea bed and green, red, and brown seaweeds on the rocks.
