Details:
It takes about 10 minutes by speedboat from Haramida to approach the islet of Agios Vasileios. Depending on the wind direction there are 3 possible points for mooring the vessel before diving.
One is inside the natural bay formed on the east side of the island, just above the cave.
The other two are North and South diametrically the capes of the island.
Each point has a small plateau, serving to guide and smooth descent of divers.
After the initial adjustment has been made in the buoyancy of the divers, the descent is steep and vertical (blue descend) to the bottom the sea that cannot be seen, having only the vertical walls as reference points.
One needs frequent buoyancy adjustment every 2-3m. At 23m depth the recess of the cave is distinguished and as we deepen inside it, it becomes wider. It takes one minute for the eyes to adapt to the new lighting conditions. Then the strongly different colors at the vertical sides of the cave are distinguished (red, yellow, orange) and the biota is impressive, with dominant the sponges, the bryozoans, the vesicles and small soft corals.
As we go inside, the cave becomes more narrow and shallow and rises to 12m. At the cave entrance several divers can swim simultaneously while having good buoyancy and enjoy the stunning scenery. Inside however only up to 3 to 4 divers (due to space and security) can enter simultaneously, keeping strictly neutral buoyancy.
The output is really breathtaking and beyond words. The feeling, the landscape and this unique and intense shade of blue is inconceivable.
At 100 bar we should begin to emerge more shallow until 15m, from where we will continue our underwater march counterclockwise in order to see pelagic fish (tuna fish, Snappers, amberjacks).
Close to 50 bar we begin our return to the boat at a depth of about 5 meters.
