Description

Details:

It only takes 5 minutes by speedboat from the port of Petra to the reef.

The mooring is located at a convenient point in the shallower part of the reef, for secure and comfortable descent.

The underwater landscape is really impressive from the start, with bold vertical, volcanic, geological and infinite channels between them.

From the first minutes of underwater navigation, encounter groups of many kinds of fish (Saddled breams, Goldlines, Picarels, Two-banded Sea Breams etc.).

As we continue deeper (10 m) landscape reminds elongated mountain ridge, which is impressive by 15 m and deeper with colorful vertical slopes. Here we find colorful sponges, a variety of flora, starfish, annelids, lobsters, scallops and nudibranchs.

At the finish of the route the reef rises from 20 m up to 40 m.

As we continue anticlockwise we see many nudibranchs, lobsters, moray eels, and a meadow strewn from short, rare peacock worms. It Is possible to go into a small canyon with a cave and get out on the other side or just swim around. Our return from the deep starts from the right side. As ascending gradually it is worthwhile to explore the vertical volcanic tips that rise on the back of the reef.

We emerge at 15 m and as ascending gradually landscape from narrow becomes wider.

We are at the end of the path and from 10 m up to 5 m are oblong canyons which pleasantly allow us to do the safety stop and gaze small fish (painted comber, small scorpions, parrot fishes, different species of sea breams).

The visibility here is stunning. Somewhere here the magic is over, we should say farewell to the underwater world and emerge to the surface.
